A standard 1-day ticket runs from ¥475 on quiet off-peak weekdays to ¥799 on peak holiday dates, using date-based pricing where every calendar day is assigned a tier. Children aged 3 to 11 get a reduced rate, and children under 3 enter free by age. The single biggest lever on both price and crowds is the date you pick.

Avoid the busiest, priciest windows if you can: Chinese New Year (January to February), October’s Golden Week (1 to 7 October), summer school holidays (July to August) and weekends all carry the top tiers and the longest queues. What time does the park open?

Shanghai Disneyland typically opens at 08:30 and closes around 20:30, with hours extending later during peak seasons and holidays. The schedule is usually published about two weeks ahead, so check the official calendar for your exact date rather than assuming fixed hours.

How do you get there?

The easiest route is Metro Line 11 to Disney Resort station, the line’s terminus, followed by a walk of about 10 minutes to the park gates. From Shanghai Pudong International Airport, a taxi takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes. Because drivers rarely speak English, save the resort’s Chinese address to show them: 上海迪士尼度假区.

What should first-time visitors know?

Two practical points catch international visitors off guard. First, while park signage and maps are shown in both Chinese and English, most shows and announcements are in Mandarin, so you will follow the story visually rather than through narration. Second, and more importantly, Google, Instagram and WhatsApp are all blocked in mainland China.

Arrange a VPN or an international roaming eSIM before you arrive, or you will lose access to your usual maps, messaging and translation apps the moment you land.
